EHSA is a web based comprehensive research safety management system that allows faculty and staff to access one portal to view safety information about their work areas and complete various tasks. After using GT Authentication to log in, researchers can view their chemical, laser, x-ray, and radioactive material inventory. They can register new lab personnel, respond to lab inspections, and view lab personnel training history.

Lab or Area personnel can manage their lab’s chemical inventory to include entering new chemicals, generating waste labels, and requesting waste pick-ups.

An online BMSC protocol submission form is available for work with biological/infectious material.

There are several additional features of EHSA that will be implemented in the near future, such as online protocol submission for IBC and RSC.

To assist in using the features of EHSA, we have developed an EHSA User Handbook. This Handbook provides step by step instructions on how to complete several tasks as a lab user or PI and additional items that a Chair/Director can access.

Spring 2019 Chemical Reconciliation

Chemical reconciliation for the first half of 2019 is due FRIDAY, JUNE 21st at 11:59 PM! At the deadline, all chemical reconciliation information must be entered into EHSA. Subsequently and as required by Georgia law, EHS will submit the GT campus inventory report to the Board of Regents. EHS strongly encourages labs to start submitting the report as soon as possible.

As a reminder, this is not only something that is required by law! First responders use our campus chemical inventory system. The data that those first responders receive is only as good as how accurate the chemical inventory information is.

In preparation for inventory reconciliation, EHS will be offering numerous EHSA training classes and refreshers in the coming weeks. Attendance at the training classes is not mandatory and all classes will be held in the EHS Training Room located at 793 Marietta Street. Training classes will  specifically focus on the reconciliation task, offered on the following dates:

Tuesday, May 14th at 11:00 am
Wednesday, May 22nd at 2:00 pm
Thursday, June 6th at 1:00 pm
 

Additionally, EHS offers on-site reconciliation assistance at your building! Please see below for the schedule. On that day, EHS will be present from 9am to 3pm to assist you with any chemical inventory reconciliation questions. Please feel free to contact us and schedule an appointment - available on a first come, first served basis). All meetings should be considered consultations and assistance with chemical inventory reconciliation, not lab inspections!

  • Gas Cylinders
  • Solvents
  • Chemical samples
  • Stock bottles of chemicals
  • Chemicals
  • Cleaning supplies such as Bleach, Pine-sol, Windex, etc.
  • Chemicals in maintenance shops
 
Items not required to be in EHSA are:
  • Lab supplies
  • Mixtures made up from chemicals already in the lab inventory (especially working solutions for work in progress)
  • Petri dishes of agar awaiting use
